Alexander Semin takes one on the chin ·
As the Washington Capitals prepare for their battle with the Colorado Avalanche tonight, they may be without the services of their star left winger, Alexander Semin.
A heated morning session saw some heavy action as the stud youngster took one on the chin.
Players were enagaged in some two-on-one action when, during a crossing play, Semin came across Kris Beech, a 6’3” 215lbs center.
“It was unfortunate to see. That Semin has been hot lately. All over the place” said coach Glen Hanlon, noting the left winger’s recent streak of 10 points in 6 games.
“And on top of that, he ended up sliding into Brent Johnson. So there we have Semin laid out on the ice, a limp Johnson, and that Big Ol’ Beech standing over the two of them.”
“We were a little worried to say the least.”
When asked if it was the hardest Semin’s been hit, assistant coach Dean Evanson remembers a different inicident involving journeyman center James Nathan Dowd
“Jimmy N. Dowd took the best shot of Semin I’ve ever seen. I remember that scene like it was yesterday.”
Though comforting, unfortunately his friend and Florida Panther standout Alexei couldn’t get the Semenov.
Huh?
